Frontal effigy of a seated bishop in full vestments, the episcopal cloak rendered as two overlapping semicircular arcs with a pellet or dot motif within each arc, evoking the stylised Romanesque treatment characteristic of early 13th-century Austrian bracteate coinage. The bishop's head, surmounted by a mitre, is depicted schematically at centre, with the arms extending outward to either side in a formal, hieratic pose. The design is enclosed within a raised beaded inner border, itself surrounded by the irregularly flan edge typical of hammered medieval pfennigs. No legend is present. |

A schematic church or cathedral facade is depicted in the upper portion of the field, rendered in a simplified Romanesque architectural style with a central tower or nave element surmounted by a domed or arcaded roofline. Beneath the building, four rings or annulets are arranged in a row, a common heraldic or symbolic device on ecclesiastical coinage of the Bishopric of Gurk from this period. The design is contained within a raised inner border, with no inscription present. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hand-hammered production. |
