| Obverse description | Central device consisting of a heraldic eagle displayed within a shield, rendered in high relief in the characteristic style of late 13th to early 14th century Friesach pfennig coinage. The eagle, a traditional emblem associated with the Archbishopric of Salzburg and its territorial authority, is depicted with spread wings and pronounced talons. The coin exhibits the irregular flan typical of hammered bracteate-style pfennigs of the period. The field is otherwise plain, with no surrounding legend. The strike is bold though slightly off-center, consistent with hand-hammered production. |
