Ottokar II acquired Styria in 1260 following the Battle of Kressenbrunn, and his subsequent consolidation of the Babenberg inheritance brought Graz under Přemyslid administration for roughly sixteen years. The Graz mint operated under this arrangement until Ottokar's defeat by Rudolf of Habsburg at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278, which ended Bohemian control of the duchy entirely.
CNA D18 is among the bracteate-influenced pfennig types associated with the Austrian provincial series of this period. Attribution to Graz specifically rests on die-style comparisons rather than documentary mint records, which are sparse for Styrian issues under Ottokar.
