Ottokar II acquired Styria in 1260 following the Battle of Kressenbrunn, which ended Hungarian control over the duchy. The Graz mint operated under his authority during this period as he consolidated a Přemyslid realm stretching from Bohemia to the Adriatic — the largest territorial accumulation by any Bohemian ruler. His death at Marchfeld in 1278 ended both the dynasty's expansion and this coinage.
