Meinhard II acquired Carinthia in 1286 as a direct reward from Rudolf of Habsburg for military and political support — the same arrangement that effectively locked the region into Habsburg influence for generations. The overlap of three possible issuers reflected the administrative turbulence of the duchy during this window, with Otto III and the Austrian occupation following Meinhard's death in 1295 producing coins of nearly identical type, making issuer attribution dependent almost entirely on hoard context and die linkage studies.
