| Additional information |
Meinhard II acquired Carinthia in 1286 following the death of Ottokar II of Bohemia and the subsequent Habsburg redistribution of the Babenberg inheritance — a territorial reshuffling that placed him among the most powerful princes in the German-speaking lands. The St. Veit mint had long served as the principal striking facility for Carinthian coinage, and issues from this period circulated across the eastern Alpine trade routes connecting the Adriatic with the Danube basin.
Attribution between Meinhard II, Otto III, and the Austrian occupation issues remains contested among specialists, with CNA Cb59 grouping them by type rather than resolving the question of individual reign attribution.
