Zofingen passed from Froburgian control to Habsburg possession in 1306, when Rudolf of Habsburg purchased the town — making this issue among the final coinages struck under Ludwig von Froburg's authority before that transfer. The extreme thinness required to produce a 0.24g silver piece at 19mm diameter placed these squarely in the bracteate tradition of the upper Rhine, where the metal was spread so thin that striking a design on one face necessarily produced a mirror impression on the other.
