Reverse description Central field displays a crossed sword and crozier in saltire, the episcopal arms of the Bishopric of Sion, surmounted by a bishop's mitre at the top. The last two digits of the date, '72', are split and appear on either side of the crossed implements, denoting the year 1572. A small star or mullet appears at the base of the crossed devices. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border. The design is struck in the hammered technique typical of Swiss episcopal coinage of the period.
