| 背面描述 | Stylised symbolic composition within a double beaded border featuring two facing half-length human heads or masks at centre flanking a row of pellets, above which a prominent six-petalled rosette or star is depicted. A small cross appears to the upper left, with additional crescent or leaf-like ornaments in the lower field. The entire design is enclosed within concentric beaded circles, typical of the decorative reverse types employed at the Gutenwerth mint in the first half of the 13th century. |

The Pfennig Gutenwerth takes its name from the Augustinian monastery of Gurk-Straßburg on the Gurk River, which held minting rights in Carinthia during the early thirteenth century. These bracteate-style thin pennies circulated within a regional economy still organized around ecclesiastical land tenure and periodic market fairs rather than long-distance trade. Carinthian minting authority during this decade was contested between the dukes and the prince-bishops, and several issues from this period are difficult to attribute with confidence to a single issuing body.
