| Obverse description | Facing bust of a bishop in high relief, wearing a mitre, depicted frontally in a schematic, early Gothic style characteristic of medieval bracteate-derived pfennigs. Flanking the bishop's head on either side are two chalices rendered in low relief, their forms symmetrically placed at the level of the shoulders. The overall composition fills the broad, irregularly shaped flan typical of hammered episcopal coinage of the Upper Rhine region in the early fourteenth century. No legend is present. |
