The dating range here spans the reigns of two rulers — Friedrich I of Styria (died 1198) and Leopold VI of Austria, who inherited Styria in 1194 and governed it until 1230. Attribution between the two remains unresolved in the literature, which is why CNA B100 lists both names. Styrian bracteate-style pfennigs from this period were struck at either Vienna or Krems under ducal authority during a time when the Babenberg dynasty was aggressively consolidating minting rights across their territories.
