Frederick II of Austria — "the Quarrelsome" — minted bracteate-style pfennigs across his territories during a period of near-constant conflict with Emperor Frederick II and the Hungarian crown. The Stein an der Save mint in Oberkrain (modern-day Kamnik, Slovenia) served the duchy's southeastern frontier, a region contested repeatedly throughout his reign. Frederick was killed at the Battle of the Leitha in 1246, dying without an heir and ending the Babenberg dynasty outright.
