Beschrijving voorzijde Frontal bust of a bishop in high relief, centrally positioned within a beaded inner circle, flanked on either side by a large six-pointed star in the field. The bishop's mitre and vestments are rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner characteristic of early 13th-century Austrian bracteate-influenced coinage. The overall composition is contained within an irregular flan typical of hand-hammered medieval silver.

Aanvullende informatie

Eberhard II served as Archbishop of Salzburg from 1200 to 1246 — an unusually long tenure that coincided with the height of the Archbishopric's territorial and political power in the southeastern Alpine region. His episcopate saw persistent friction with the Bavarian dukes and complex entanglement with the Hohenstaufen imperial court, circumstances that made independent coin production both a practical necessity and a political statement. The Rann mint, located along the Sava River in what is now Slovenia, operated as one of several peripheral minting points under Salzburg's authority during this period.
