Rann-type bracteates from Salzburg occupy an unusual administrative moment: Eberhard II held the archiepiscopal seat from 1200 to 1246, but the pairing with Leopold VI of Austria pins this issue to a period of active cooperation — and occasional friction — between ecclesiastical Salzburg and the Babenberg duchy. Leopold VI, styled "the Glorious," was one of the most powerful territorial princes of his generation, and joint issues of this kind reflect the complex monetary arrangements governing trade along the Salzburg-Vienna corridor. The CNA Ck35 classification places this firmly within the regional bracteate tradition that dominated Alpine coinage before the shift toward thicker, two-sided pfennigs in the later thirteenth century.
