Berthold V, Count of Merania, held the Patriarchate of Aquileia from 1218 until his death in 1251 — making the 1200–1235 date range here somewhat conservative. The mint at Gutenwerth, on an island in the Drave river in Carinthia, operated under patriarchal authority during a period when Aquileia was aggressively reasserting temporal control over its northern territories against competing Babenberg and Andechs interests.
CNA Cj101 is among the more localized bracteate-influenced pfennig types from this mint, circulating primarily within the Slavonian and Carinthian trade corridors rather than the broader Friulian economy Aquileia more typically dominated.
