Bernard II ruled Carinthia from 1202 until his death in 1256, and his minting activity at Heiligenkreuz represents one of the few documented coin-producing sites in the duchy during the first half of the thirteenth century. The thin, bracteate-adjacent fabric of these pfennigs meant they circulated roughly and survivors with intact edges are genuinely uncommon. CNA Co9 is a precisely catalogued type within Corpus Nummorum Austriacorum, placing this issue within a well-documented sequence despite the broad date range assigned to it.
