Brno's municipal coinage of the early fifteenth century operated under a complex jurisdictional arrangement — the city held minting rights delegated through Margraviate authority, not directly from the crown. Albrecht of Austria's long tenure as Margrave of Moravia, running concurrently with his role as Duke of Austria, created an unusually stable political backdrop for Brno's mint during an otherwise turbulent Hussite period.
The Hussite Wars disrupted silver supply routes across Bohemia and Moravia repeatedly through the 1420s, making consistent minting difficult for many regional authorities. That Brno sustained output across this full eleven-year window is noteworthy.
