| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays a stylized heraldic eagle or bird figure in high relief, rendered in the characteristic Viennese bracteate-influenced style typical of 14th-century Austrian pfennige. The design is boldly struck with strongly raised elements against a flat field, with a partial circular border visible at the lower periphery. The legend ALBERTV DVX, attributing the coin to Duke Albrecht II of Austria, runs around the design. The irregular flan, characteristic of hand-hammered medieval coinage, partially obscures portions of the legend and design at the periphery. The overall execution reflects the robust but somewhat crude die-cutting typical of the Vienna mint workshop of this period. |
