Albert VI and Frederick III co-ruled Austria under chronic fraternal hostility that periodically collapsed into open warfare — the two brothers fought a territorial conflict in the 1460s so disruptive that Vienna itself endured a siege. Small silver pfennigs issued under their joint authority were struck at Enns, one of Upper Austria's older minting centers, during a period when neither ruler exercised uncontested control over the mint's output.
