Reverse description A heraldic winged lion passant to the left, rendered in bold relief typical of mid-13th-century Meranisch hammered pfennig coinage. The beast's wings are prominently spread upward and its body is depicted in a walking posture, with the tail curling behind. The design fills the central field and is enclosed within a beaded circle, beyond which the irregular flan edge is visible. The reverse carries no legend. The overall style reflects the Romanesque artistic conventions prevalent in the Duchy of Merania during this period.
