附加信息

The Upper Palatinate occupied an awkward political position throughout this period — geographically detached from the Rhine Palatinate and administratively subordinate to the Wittelsbach dukes, who were simultaneously juggling dynastic claims across Bavaria and the Electoral dignity. Small silver pfennigs of this type were the backbone of local market transactions in towns like Amberg and Weiden, rarely traveling far from where they were struck. Götz 156 places this squarely within the issues of the late Wittelsbach administration before the territorial complications of the early sixteenth century reshuffled minting authority.
