Additional information

Honoré III inherited the principality as a minor in 1733, and Monaco's coinage of these early years reflects the administrative scramble of a regency government trying to maintain functional small change. The pezzetto — a billon fraction intended for everyday local transactions — was struck in very limited quantities, and Monaco's tiny mint output during the 1730s means survivors in any presentable condition are genuinely uncommon.

The CNI records two distinct die variants for this type, catalogued separately as CNI III#4 and CNI III#7.
