A small escutcheon or label appears at the top of the shield. The surrounding Latin legend reads DEO IVVAN DVX VALENT PAR FRANCIAE & C 1648, identifying Honoré II's titles as Duke of Valentinois and Peer of France, with the date incorporated into the legend.
