Obverse description Facing lion's head rendered in high relief, depicted frontally with mane radiating symmetrically around the visage, deeply incised facial features including prominent brow ridges, flattened muzzle, and open nostrils. The bold, naturalistic modeling of the mane is characteristic of the Early Classical style of Magna Graecia. No legend or inscription is present in the field.

Reverse description Retrograde archaic Greek letter rho (Ρ) occupying the central field, flanked by five pellets arranged symmetrically around it — two to the left, two to the right, and one below — serving as a mintmark reference to Rhegion. The design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's periphery. The composition is stark and emblematic, typical of small fractional coinage of the period.
