Pentonkion

Beschrijving voorzijde	Laureate bust of Apollo facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic style characteristic of Sicilian civic coinage of the second century BC. The hair is bound with a laurel wreath, and the bust displays a draped shoulder. The Greek letter Π (pi), serving as the mark of value denoting the pentonkion denomination, appears in the field behind the head. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat flat, consistent with provincial bronze production of the period.

Beschrijving keerzijde	A kithara (lyre) depicted frontally and centrally in the field, rendered with clearly delineated strings and a characteristic resonating body, referencing Apollo's role as divine patron of music. The ethnic legend ΜΕΝΑΙΝΩΝ is disposed around the central type, identifying the issuing community of Menainon in Sicily. The lettering is in the Greek alphabet and the overall composition is well-centred despite the irregularity of the flan.
