| Obverse description | A triquetra (three-cornered interlaced knot symbol) occupies the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The triquetra is rendered with crisp interlace work, each lobe adorned with pellet ornaments. Surrounding the inner circle, the ruler's title is rendered in Latin legend in the outer field, reading + REG·N·Λ·L·D CVNVN, identifying Regnald as king (cununc). The lettering is executed in the insular Anglo-Scandinavian hammered style characteristic of Viking-Age Northumbrian coinage. |
