Reverse description Central design features a voided short cross with a prominent quatrefoil at its centre, with pellets positioned centrally within the quatrefoil and one pellet placed in each of the four angles formed by the cross arms. The entire motif is set within a beaded inner circle, with the moneyer's legend running around the outer field. The crisp geometric design is characteristic of the Arm and Sceptre type coinage of Harthacnut. The legend identifies the moneyer Æthelwig operating at the Winchcombe mint.
