The portrait is rendered in low relief with fine detail to the facial features and coiffure. A beaded border surrounds the entire design. The circular Latin legend reads +ELIZABETH II DEI GRA:BRITT:OMN:REGINA F:D, interrupted by the cross at the top of the coin. The engraver's initials 'M.G.' appear in small letters below the truncation of the bust.
