| Obverse lettering | EADGAR REX (Translation: King Edgar) |
| Reverse description | The reverse is divided into two horizontal lines of text bearing the moneyer's name, separated and framed by decorative crosses. A trefoil ornament appears at the top and bottom of the field, flanking the two lines of legend, a hallmark feature of the Two Line type. The crosses between and beside the lettering are rendered in a geometric, incuse style typical of late Anglo-Saxon die engraving. The overall composition is enclosed within a plain inner border and a beaded outer rim. The design identifies the issuing moneyer in accordance with the reformed coinage policy of Edgar's reign. |
