Obverse description Facing crowned bust of the Emperor in high relief, rendered in the Romanesque style typical of 12th-century Mosan coinage. The figure displays a stylized frontal face with schematic facial features, wearing a beaded crown, with the shoulders indicated by a broad horizontal bar. To the left of the bust, a sceptre or sword is held vertically. A partial Latin legend referencing the imperial title appears in the field to the left, with further letters distributed around the periphery.
