Obverse description Standing effigy of the bishop in profile facing right, vested in episcopal robes and wearing a miter, with the left hand raised in the gesture of blessing. A secondary figure is depicted at the left periphery of the flan, facing the same direction and bearing the bishop's crozier. The composition reflects the Romanesque penny-type convention of episcopal portraiture common to the Meuse valley workshops of the 12th century. The abbreviated legend surrounding the figures identifies the issuing bishop.
