| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of Archbishop Henry Murdac turned to the right, holding a sceptre in the right hand; a mullet accompanied by two pellets appears in the inner right field. The effigy is rendered in the bold, schematic style characteristic of mid-twelfth-century English hammered coinage. A Latin legend reading the archbishop's name and title runs around the periphery within a beaded border. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hand-struck ecclesiastical issues of the Anarchy period. |
