| Beschrijving keerzijde | A cross moline at the centre transitions into a voided octofoil, with inverted fleurs-de-lis occupying each of the four angles formed by the cross arms. This intricate geometric design is characteristic of the cross-moline penny type associated with the northern baronial and Scottish border mints during the reign of King Stephen. The design is executed in a bold if somewhat rough hammered style, and a circular legend naming the moneyer and mint surrounds the central motif. The flan is irregular and the strike slightly off-centre, consistent with provincial mint production of the Anarchy period. |
