| Beschrijving keerzijde | Cross moline of exceptionally bold form dominates the reverse, its four arms terminating in distinctive bifurcated curling ends characteristic of the Type 1 Civil War coinage. The quadrants formed by the cross arms contain annulets and pellet ornaments in the field. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central cross motif. The moneyer legend, partially defaced, reads + [S]ǷEIN : ON : S[NOT], identifying the moneyer Swein operating at the Nottingham mint, with the inscription interrupted by the deliberate defacement consistent with known examples of this type. |
