Obverse description Crude facing bust of Henry of Anjou, crowned with a diademed crown showing prominent pellets, depicted in the stylized Romanesque manner typical of Civil War period coinage. The king holds a sceptre topped with a fleur-de-lis in his right hand, visible to the right of the bust. The effigy is rendered in low relief with bold, somewhat roughly executed features characteristic of provincial hammered coinage of the Anarchy period. A partial Latin legend surrounds the bust, partially off-flan due to the irregular planchet.
