Obverse description Diademed bust of King Burgred facing right, rendered in the boldly stylized Anglo-Saxon manner with pronounced facial features and a beaded diadem. The bust is depicted with draped shoulders and a distinct eye rendered frontally, characteristic of Mercian coinage of this period. A beaded inner circle frames the effigy, and the royal legend is distributed around the periphery within a beaded border.
