| 背面描述 | The moneyer's name ABERNEL is inscribed in two horizontal lines across the field, reading ΛBE in the upper register and NLE in the lower register, divided by a horizontal line of pellets. The letters are rendered in bold Anglo-Saxon majuscule, with pellet stops flanking the inscription on either side. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hammered silver production. This two-line reverse type is characteristic of late ninth-century English pennies attributed to the East Anglian or associated minting tradition. The overall execution reflects the hand-crafted nature of the coinage of Æthelstan II's reign. |
