| Beschrijving keerzijde | A cross-crosslet (cross with crosslets at each terminal) occupies the central field, set within a beaded inner circle that separates the central device from the surrounding moneyer's legend. The cross is boldly struck and serves as the primary decorative and religious motif, consistent with Anglo-Saxon penny reverses of the period. The peripheral legend, disposed around the outer edge of the coin in angular Latin lettering, reads + EAD•GAR MOH, identifying Eadgar as the responsible moneyer. The overall composition is well-centred for a hammered issue, with the legend and cross-crosslet clearly legible despite the inherent irregularities of hand-struck coinage. |
