| Obverse description | Facing right bust of Bishop Godfrey rendered in crude but expressive medieval style, the prelate depicted wearing a tall mitre with visible decorative banding. The figure holds a crozier to the right, its curved head visible beside the shoulder. The bust is presented in a stylized, flat manner characteristic of 12th-century episcopal coinage from the Low Countries, with the legend disposed around the periphery of the flan. The overall execution reflects the hand-struck, irregular character typical of Rhenish-influenced ecclesiastical pennings of this period. |
