Obverse description Central plain cross with splayed arms dividing the field into four quadrants, each containing a single uncial letter; the letters R, E, X, and K are distributed between the arms of the cross, forming an abbreviated royal legend. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, characteristic of mid-13th-century Danish hammered coinage. The design is executed in low relief with a flat, unadorned field typical of episcopal mint production at Roskilde.
