| Obverse description | Facing bust of a bishop rendered in stylized Romanesque fashion, wearing a mitre and draped vestments, the figure shown frontally with head turned slightly to the right. The right hand grasps a crozier, its curved head visible to the upper right of the effigy. The bust is set within an inner beaded circle, with the episcopal legend disposed around the periphery. The engraving is characteristic of late 12th-century Low Countries hammered coinage, with bold, schematic features. |
