背面描述 The crowned Portuguese royal coat of arms is centrally displayed, featuring the traditional quartered shield with the five escutcheons of the quinas and the red bordure charged with seven castles, all surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by symmetrical laurel and oak branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow, forming a wreath-like frame around the entire armorial composition. The field is otherwise plain, and the milled border with beaded rim completes the design.

附加信息

The 1835 Peça was struck during one of the most turbulent transitions in Portuguese monetary history. Maria II had only consolidated her throne in 1834 following the Liberal Wars — a decade-long dynastic conflict between Miguelist absolutists and Constitutional liberals — and the new coinage was an immediate assertion of legitimate authority by the reinstated constitutional monarchy. The Casa da Moeda had been operating under considerable disruption, and early strikes of this type show inconsistencies in die alignment that collectors familiar with the Gomes reference will recognize.
