The effigy is rendered with fine engraving detail, showing lace at the décolletage and curled locks falling to the neck. The circumferential Latin legend reads MARIA·I·D·G·PORT·ET·ALG·REGINA, separated by mullets, running from lower left to lower right. The date appears in the exergue below the bust truncation. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The Portuguese royal arms displayed on an ornate Baroque cartouche, consisting of the escutcheon of Portugal — five quinas arranged in a cross on a white field, charged with bezants, and surrounded by a bordure of seven castles — set within an elaborately scrolled and foliate mantle with acanthus and rocaille ornament. The arms are surmounted by the royal crown. The entire composition fills the field without a circumferential legend, with a decorative shell motif at the base of the cartouche. |
