Reverse description The Portuguese royal arms displayed on an ornate Baroque cartouche, consisting of the escutcheon of Portugal — five quinas arranged in a cross on a white field, charged with bezants, and surrounded by a bordure of seven castles — set within an elaborately scrolled and foliate mantle with acanthus and rocaille ornament. The arms are surmounted by the royal crown. The entire composition fills the field without a circumferential legend, with a decorative shell motif at the base of the cartouche.
