| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King José I facing right, rendered in high relief in the Baroque style, with elaborately curled hair adorned with a laurel wreath and a ribbon tie at the nape of the neck. The king's truncation features a decorative scroll motif. The circular Latin legend reads JOSEPHUS I D G PORT ET ALG REX, separated by pellets, running from lower left to lower right around the periphery. The mint date appears in the exergue at the base of the coin. A fine rope-pattern border frames the entire design. |
