Obverse description A bearded Germanic warrior in high relief stands facing, armed with a sword in his right hand and a round shield in his left, surrounded by five serpents coiling aggressively around him. The warrior, symbolizing the German Empire, defiantly confronts the encircling snakes representing its wartime enemies. The date 19-14 is split across the lower field on either side of the figure.

Reverse description A decorated rectangular cartouche in high relief bears a four-line patriotic inscription, framed by arrow-shaped corner ornaments. Oak branches with acorns are displayed below the cartouche, while laurel and oak sprigs flank the top, together forming a wreath-like arrangement around the central tablet.
