The heraldic crown is visible in the centre in incuse relief, with the surrounding circular legend R. WALKER'S and the lower inscriptions NO. 13½, ER, and PATENT all reading in reverse. This characteristic reverse confirms the piece as a uniface patent die trial or press test, where the obverse die impression has been transferred through the metal to the opposite face. |
