| Obverse description | Two papal keys crossed in saltire dominate the central field, their bows adorned with small star ornaments at the base. The keys, symbols of pontifical authority, are rendered in relief against a plain field typical of hammered billon coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, partially visible on the irregular flan, reading the papal title of Clement VIII. |
