| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field occupied by a pointed heraldic shield divided quarterly, displaying the dynastic arms of the Angevin kings of Hungary: the Árpád stripes (barry of silver and red) and the Angevin lilies (fleurs-de-lis), surmounted by a crown above the shield. The shield is enclosed within a linear circle. The surrounding circumscription in Latin reads KAROLVS REX hVNGARIE, identifying Charles Robert as King of Hungary, with a cross stop at the beginning or end of the legend. The lettering is rendered in Gothic majuscule characters, consistent with early 14th-century Hungarian minting practice. The flan is slightly irregular and the strike exhibits typical die wear and weakness at the margins. |
