| Obverse description | Central field depicts a crowned episcopal figure, likely the Virgin Mary in orans or enthroned pose, set within a pointed oval (vesica) frame. The figure is rendered in a flat, Gothic hammered style characteristic of 15th-century Swiss ecclesiastical coinage. The surrounding legend, separated by pellet stops, reads AVE : GRACIA : PLENA : DOM :, an invocation derived from the Angelic Salutation. The coin's flan is irregular with a slightly uneven strike, as typical of hand-hammered medieval issues. A beaded inner circle borders the central design. |
